Punxsutawney Phil, Groundhog Day 2010

If you’ve ever had the weight of a Nation on you then you know how our Star of the Week feels at this time every year. No, not the President of the United States of America or even Grammy Album of the Year winner, Taylor Swift. Neither of them. We’re talking about the love-him-or-hate-him, cute-lil-bugger Punxsutawney Phil — the ground hog resident of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania who emerges from his temporary home on Gobbler’s Knob (seriously, we did NOT make that name up) on February 2nd to either see his shadow — or not. The shadowy sympolisim keeps the entire Country on edge as it could mean six more weeks of winter if Phil sees his shadow, but if his dark passenger (the benevolent kind) is nowhere to be found then Spring is said to arrive early. If that’s not pressure, we don’t know what is!

So this week, we salute you Punxsutawney Phil! The pressure is most definitely on, perhaps more this year than ever as most of the Country continues to get pounded with snow fall after snow fall.

Our prediction may go against the grain, but we’re saying Phil will see a partial shadow, something that hasn’t been seen since 1942! We’ll definitely be watching. Will you?
