OK, we’ll admit that we are totally geeking out right now. La Roux is what you might call one of our current obsessions, so we are thrilled that the amazing Elly Jackson has taken time out of her busy schedule to answer our PopAwesome Questionnaire.
We had the pleasure of seeing La Roux rock the Gobi tent at Coachella with a tropical themed set, complete with inflatable palm trees, flamingos and parrots…not to mention hoards of sweaty festival goers bopping along to fan-favorites “Bulletproof,” “In For The Kill,” and “I’m Not Your Toy.”
It’s so great to see this band cross-over to pop radio in the US — we get so excited every time Ryan Seacrest plays “Bulletproof” on KIIS! Plus, we can’t wait for their upcoming gig at Club Nokia in July. The song you’re most proud of? In For The Kill. I’m really proud of the lyrics and imagery. I’m also proud of the fact that the track was ignored by radio at first, then the public took hold of it and got it to Number 2 and stayed there for nearly 2 months. I’m also really proud of the remix I just did for I Blame Coco because its the first track I’ve ever completed on my own.
Best concert you’ve ever been to? Prince. He’s one of my idols and I got really emotional. He was fantastic.
Your favorite thing to do on a rainy day is? Stay inside, cook, watch the Mighty Boosh.
The album you’ve got on repeat? That changes each week! At the moment its Gorillaz.
What movie could you watch a thousand times? I like really bad films and I’m actually too embarrassed to say… but maybe Clueless?
Favorite beauty product in your makeup bag? Mac Strobe Cream.
What TV show can you not stand to miss? I don’t follow any TV shows, we’re away from home too much. We’ve been watching the Curb Your Enthusiasm box set on the tour bus though.
Celebrity crush? James Dean
Whose style do you love? David Bowie circa Modern Love
One thing you can’t live without? My Gucci loafers. I wear them every day and now they have a hole in the bottom that I need to get fixed…
Best/worst rumor you’ve heard about yourself? Um… that I was a man? That’s pretty bad isn’t it? And more recently that my UK record label are terrified about me cutting my hair and that I wear hats in protest. I find this HILARIOUS. And that my stylist was my non existent dog “snappy”…… you tell me.
Craziest thing you’ve ever done to impress a guy/girl? I am one of those people that totally ignores someone if I fancy them.
What are you most excited for this year? We just played Brixton Academy, in my hometown so that was incredible but we’re still really looking forward to Glastonbury.
