Wow! I was pleasantly surprised. Dare I say that Danny’s single – amongst those idols who have released so far – is the most representative who of he is as an artist? The first thing I thought after I heard it was that it’s Danny – the raspy voice, the soaring parts, the phrasing, the lyrics. I think it’s a song tailor-made for him, which is why I think this single actually works.

“It’s Only” is tailor made for the kind of music Danny has always represented himself with as a performer. It is also the kind of song that is tailor made for Country pop fans – in the mode of Rascal Flatts. And it has the whole distinctive Mark Bright and Lady Antebellum production all over it. This is not the type of song that will likely be a huge hit in the mainstream, teeny bopper, hip hop, MTV rock crowd. But that was never the intent. Danny accomplished what he needed to do with the debut single – that is, keep the fans happy but also reach out to new fans in Country Music. “It’s Only” works because Danny stayed trued to who is as an artist. This is a very topical song and with it’s holiday release, I can see this being a big win for Danny.

I listen to country music all the time and I think “It’s Only” is a good fit. Love the way gokey’s voice is gentle, then soars with a wonderful falsetto. I think it will grow on the country listeners. It has on me already.

I like power, soulful, rock edge Danny more but I really do love this song. The vocals are beautiful and it has a message, just in time for Christmas.
Danny has stayed the most true to all the S8 Idols in the type of single he’s come out with.

I love it. It has a positive message,something we need to hear especially considering how tough a lot of us have it these days. I’d say Danny is a very courageous young man. Not everybody would be willing to sing this type of songs for fear of ridicule. But then again, Danny is so used to such that it will not hinder him from reaching his vision and dreams. Way to go, Danny. May this world have more people like you. Be strong and may you continue to be firmly grounded in your faith.

I love the song. Danny stayed true to himself with this song and I think he just may have a hit. The song is beautiful and Danny’s voice hasn’t sounded better. Great Job Danny!!!

Didn’t like the song the first time i heard it probably because it’s not what i expected from Danny. But after a few times listening to it i started to fall in love with the song. Great message and nice melody along with his tender voice.

Now, i can’t stop listening to it. Love the last part of the song where where Danny showed he still can have his growl even with this tender song.

Hope to see him on tour very soon.

Thought that was just a beautiful song from Danny Gokey. He has a great voice, one of my big favorites from any year of AI. Look forward to hearing the rest of his CD, and hope he’ll be out on a country music tour sometime soon.
