The new and more mature brunette shows off an edgier look and sound that comes full force on her new album.  The actress and singer spent about eight months working hard on her sophomore album. The album is a manifestation of songs that can be interpreted as an empowerment for women. With the release of her new single, “It’s Alright, It’s OK,” Ashley proves that she is now ready to show a new side of her that is less Disney starlet and more mature young woman.

It’s very clear that Tisdale is trying to break away from her Disney days with the album. With songwriting and production credits from American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, among others, Guilty Pleasure can translate into a more mature, guitar-driven outing than Tisdale’s more dance-pop 2007 debut album, Headstrong.

Tisdale also has revealed some of her own guilty pleasures throughout the buildup to the new release. She has said in interviews that she loves Coffee Bean and re-runs of the show “Full House.”  Ashley’s new album Guilty Pleasure will be available on July 28th, and she has come up with a way for her fans to join the fun.  She wants her fans to celebrate the release of the album by throwing their own party.  Fans will be provided with party packs that include enough goodies for the fans and their friends.  Each pack comes with five Ashley Berry Lip Glosses, 15-20 Guilty Pleasure posters, 5 sticker packs, 1 Guilty Pleasure CD, and 1 note from Ashley.  This all sounds pretty awesome for the Ashley Tisdale fans.  It is a way that they can connect with the songstress. Many of the songs and lyrics seem to be “moving on” songs as well as “staying strong” anthems.  Tisdale tries to be somewhat provocative with certain tracks; however, some may see through that attempt and attribute it to an artist who is trying too hard to sound mature in order to shed her tween-friendly roots.  While Tisdale’s Guilty Pleasure will sell well to its anticipated tween audience, critics may have wanted and anticipated an audience closer to the pop star’s age.

IT’S ALRIGHT, IT’S OK official music video

“I love break-up songs,” Tisdale says. “Everyone can relate to those moments when you need to vent your frustration about a previous relationship. ‘It’s Alright, It’s OK’ is about how you need to stand up for yourself and not let someone walk all over you; it’s a message I wanted to get across to other girls.”

An accompanying video to “It’s Alright, It’s OK” will premiere on MySpace’s on April 21^st with feature support from such major online partners as AOL Music and Yahoo! Music, and MTV.com will premiere exclusive “making of the video” footage the week of the single’s release. Tisdale stars in the video with actor Adam Gregory (the CW’s 90210), who plays her ex-boyfriend. The clip was directed by Scott Speer, who has helmed previous videos for Tisdale as well as those from Jordin Sparks and David Archuleta.

Ashley’s sophomore album, Guilty Pleasure, will be in-stores on June 16^th.   She worked with top-notch producers and songwriters including Kara DioGuardi (Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood), Toby Gad (Beyoncé, Fergie), Billy Steinberg (Madonna), and Emanuel Kiriakou (David Archuleta, Nick Lachey).
