Esmée Denters and Justin Timberlake took to the subways, streets and rooftops of downtown LA earlier this month to shoot the video for “Love Dealer” with top-notch production duo The Malloys.

Collaborating on the feisty, urban-flavored hit is just the tip of the Denters/Timberlake connection. Esmée rose to internet fame in 2007, racking up millions of views on her Youtube channel with effortless and soulful covers of her favorite hits. Among her worldwide fans was Justin Timberlake himself, who quickly signed the Dutch pancake house waitress to his own Interscope imprint, Tennman Records. The two began writing her debut album Outta Here, with the help of an impressive list of hitmakers, including Polow Da Don (Usher, Ciara), Stargate (Rihanna, Ne-Yo), OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder (Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield), and Toby Gad (Beyoncé, Fergie).

Before she started dealing love, Esmée was, well, a pancake dealer. The 20 year old Dutch artist was servin’ up flapjacks at a pancake house in the Netherlands when she rose to fame as a Youtube sensation covering her favorite hits. That is, until Justin Timberlake discovered her and quickly signed her to his Interscope imprint Tennman Records. Move over Bieber/Usher!

Tomorrow, August 18th, YouTube will premiere an exclusive live concert with Esmee Denters. The Music Tuesdays’ feature will include footage from Esmee’s recent Los Angeles showcase presented by PopAwesome-favorite Justin Timberlake. In anticipation of the event, Esmee posted a teaser video allowing fans a sneak peak of the performance as well as behind the scenes interviews with herself and Justin!

The 20-year old Dutch songstress began her career with a webcam and a dream, singing covers of her favorite artists on YouTube. Racking up over 20 million views on her channel, the most of any other artist on YouTube at the time, Esmee’s talent was quickly noticed by none other than singer/songwriter and star producer Justin Timberlake. Esmée Denters stopped by Radio 538, the #1 radio station in Holland, for an acoustic performance of her single “Outta Here.” With almost no sleep following her show with Enrique Iglesias the night before, the Dutch pop songstress still rocked the set and showed off her silky, soulful vocals on the Justin Timberlake and Polow Da Don produced track. Esmée’s debut album will be released in the US later this year.

Meet Esmee Denters!

A mere two years ago, Esmée Denters was just a pancake house waitress with a webcam and a dream. An aspiring singer who fell in love with her father’s Stevie Wonder albums as a child, Esmée was 17 when she began posting videos of herself on YouTube singing her favorite hits by Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, P!ink, and Natasha Bedingfield.”I had seen all these videos of amateur singers, which gave me the idea,” she says. “I was just interested in what other people thought of my voice.” Within nine months, Esmée’s videos had racked up 21 million views, and she became the number one most-subscribed musician in the history of the popular video-sharing website.

Esmée’s clips soon caught the attention of Justin Timberlake – one of her musical idols – who was drawn to her silky, soulful voice, natural charisma and songwriting talent. He then signed her to his label Tenman Records, an imprint of Interscope, and began executive producing and co-producing the majority of her debut album. They lined up an impressive list of noted songwriters and producers to collaborate on the project including Polow Da Don (Usher, Ciara), Stargate (Rihanna, Ne-Yo), OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder (Leona Lewis, Natasha Bedingfield), and Toby Gad (Beyoncé, Fergie). The result is an edgy, soulful pop-R&B set that Esmée says truly reflects who she is as a person.

Relatability was something that was important to Esmée on her debut outing, which is why she was thrilled for the opportunity to co-write the majority of the songs.
