Recorded live in New York on July 22, 2009, Perry presents some of her most well-known songs in a whole new way, performing unplugged re-arrangements of her No. 1 hits “I Kissed A Girl” and “Waking Up In Vegas,” along with the No. 1 video hit “Thinking Of You,” and the popular tracks “Ur So Gay” and “Lost” from her debut album ONE OF THE BOYS, which has now sold five million worldwide.

The MTV: UNPLUGGED set list is rounded out with two brand-new tracks, a cover of the Fountains of Wayne song “Hackensack,” and the never before released original song “Brick By Brick.” The DVD release also features exclusive interview footage.

Individual songs from the program will be debuting during MTV’s morning all-music video block AMTV on November 16^th, and the full program, along with interview material, will air on Palladia, MTV Networks’ high-definition music channel, on November 27^th, at 9 PM and 12 AM. In this appearance, Katy Perry joins a distinguished roster of MTV: Unplugged performers, memorably including Eric Clapton, whose 1992 program featured “Tears in Heaven” and “Layla” and won six Grammys, among them Album of the Year, Tony Bennett, who won Grammy’s Album of the Year for his 1994 appearance, Nirvana and others.

Jessie James was seen by tens of thousands of Jonas Brothers concert-goers last month, when she was chosen to host six shows on the road, introducing each artist on the bill including support acts Honor Society and Jordin Sparks. Jessie also performed “Wanted” at every show, and met with fans at pre-show meet and greets. After being named AOL’s Video Of The Day on May 20th, iTunes picked up “Wanted” as Video Of The Week in early June, and over 200,000 fans downloaded the clip.

Jessie’s two-month high-profile Steve Madden Music campaign, which began June 1st, is in its final weeks, as the fashion giant’s retail network of 97 stores continues to promote Jessie through in-store signage and video play. Steve Madden’s impressive online presence – across www.stevemadden.com and www.stevemaddenmusic.com – is also being utilized to showcase photos and video content with Jessie and allow fans to purchase the single at the site. Previous artists featured in this promotion include Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.

Recorded in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, and London, the ‘Jessie James’ album takes off with “Wanted”, the full-throttle dance-rock scorcher that Jessie co-wrote with American Idol judge and hit songwriter Kara DioGuardiMitch Allen and David Hodges).“I Look So Good” showcases Jessie’s artistic depth, with its vulnerable lyrics and soulful sound. “Bullet” is a catchy rock gem co-written with pal Katy Perry. The sassy “Blue Jeans”, with its hip-hop swagger and tribal percussion, was first heard in the hit Touchstone film and Hollywood Records soundtrack album of ‘Confessions of A Shopaholic’, and was featured in this week’s July 19th premiere episode of Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva.

“My Cowboy”, a twangy rocker, will be featured in promos for the Country Music Festival, beginning in August on ABC and CMT. The song will also promote the upcoming CMA Awards show airing in November (TBC); and will be heard in Sorority Wars, a Lifetime cable television movie set to air in October.

She went on to explain that she has her eye on someone in particular.  “There is this Korean Justin Timberlake named Rain…and I’m really on his situation now.  I’m trying to fix this up.  I’m working hard.”

“The Alexa Chung Show” will be a mix of celebrity talk, music and online interaction with viewers. The stakes are high; it’s the most important of nine new series the slumping MTV has in the works. The midday series begins June 15.

MTV’s viewership for the first three months of 2009 is down 18 percent from the year before. The docu-soap “The Hills” is still popular, and MTV is generating modest heat with the competition “America’s Best Dance Crew,” but it has lacked the daily stop-off point for stars that “TRL” provided before its slow demise and cancellation last November.

At its height, during the ‘N Sync and Britney Spears years, “TRL” set the tone for the music business and drew huge crowds to MTV’s Times Square studio.

Chung, who has been on TV shows since she was 18 and now dates Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner, is a fresh face able to relate to both stars and the audience at home, network executives said.

“We just all really fell for her,” said David Sirulnick, MTV’s executive vice president for news and production.

The idea is to introduce Chung’s show at midday for young viewers home for the summer and, if it works out well, move later to an after-school time slot.

Facebook is working with MTV as a partner in the series. MTV wants to use Facebook and Twitter to reach viewers in a way that “TRL” _ which asked viewers to vote on their favorite videos _ could barely touch upon.

“The show will air one hour a day,” Sirulnick said. “but for the other 23 hours we want viewers to be engaged with Alexa and what is on the show.”

Sirulnick said MTV has been searching for the last few years for someone to build a show around.

MTV is going against the grain in that many young viewers are seeking a version of comfort TV, given the popularity of reruns of “George Lopez” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” said Brian Graden, MTV’s entertainment president.

Among MTV’s other new shows will be “The Buried Life,” with four men trying to cross out items on a young person’s version of a bucket list; “Gone Too Far,” an intervention series for addicts; and “Disaster Date,” a hidden camera show about people set up on awful blind dates by their friends.
