So You Think You Can Dance Switches Up Format

Wow, we are so.freaking.excited.   There have been rumors of a new twist to So You Think You Can Dance this year, and more info has just been revealed by Nigel Lythgoe about the format changes.  Instead of the traditional partnerships we’ve seen over the past 6 seasons, each contestant will be paired with a SYTYCD “all-star” each week!   No details have been confirmed about who these “all-stars” will be, but let’s just say we have our fingers crossed for Benji, Travis, Kayla, Pasha, Joshua, Sabra, Mark and Neil.   Expect a variety from the SYTYCD alums because each dancer will represent a specific genre.  Last season was probably our least favorite yet, so we’re happy to see something new this year even though we’ll miss the strong partnerships that usually form throughout the season.  Get ready to see Mary Murphy serving double duty as judge AND choreographer which means her hot tamale train won’t appear on the panel permanently.  We WILL see Mia Michaels (yay) back in the mix in the rotating panel, but that also means we’ll have to listen to Lil C’s nonsensical rants (sigh).
